LG Innotek has proudly introduced the world’s first 5G communication module for cars, enabling vehicles to connect through 5G New Radio Non-Terrestrial Network (NR-NTN). The company introduced this innovative module that allows for fast satellite data transmission, which greatly improves how autonomous cars drive.

The new module utilizes LG Innotek’s expertise in automotive electronics to ensure reliable connectivity, even in remote areas where standard cellular networks may be unavailable. The use of both satellite and 5G technology enables the module to provide reliable, high-speed data transfer needed for real-time navigation, V2X communication, and ADAS. This progress will support the world’s move toward fully driverless cars by ensuring reliable connectivity..

The new module created by LG Innotek can accommodate the tough specifications sought by next-generation vehicle manufacturers. It allows data to be downloaded more quickly and it makes the signal more stable, dealing with issues that 5G-V2X modules encountered before. Thanks to the company’s proprietary algorithms that adjust temperature, signals are unlikely to be lost, allowing the equipment to operate smoothly at high temperatures.

The company’s projections indicate the automotive communication sector will grow a lot, with market estimates projecting 21.8 million 5G-equipped vehicles by 2027 up from 1.7 million in 2023.

LG Innotek expanded its automotive solutions last year with in-cabin cameras and advanced lighting, seen at CES 2025. Because LG Innotek has completed more than 140 projects with global automakers, it is advancing in the automotive electronics market and making roads safer as well as smarter.
